LocaLI Bred curated by Trellus was recently featured in an NBC New York Live segment, “Best of the Boxes,” featuring last-minute gifting options conveniently packaged and ready to be shipped.
“So this is featuring a bunch of different local businesses on Long Island,” said co-host Ashley Bellman, introducing LocaLI Bred’s 2024 Holiday Box. “We have SerendipiTea. We have Candleworks, Home Long Island — something from each place, which is really nice. You’re giving back to the small businesses, which is super nice. And also a taste of Long Island anywhere you want.”
Co-host Sarah Gore added, “I also love that if you’re a local but you haven’t even been to any of these places. There are so many things on Long Island that I have no idea about, so even I who live here…it might draw me to go there one day.
How LocaLI Bred curated by Trellus Came About
LocaLI Bred was founded in 2018 by Theresa Pinelli and Halie Geller, two moms who met while navigating the challenges of parenthood in a new place. Bonding over their status as Brooklyn transplants and their marriages to native Long Islanders, they embarked on a mission to shine a light on Long Island’s best artisans and makers. Their curated gift boxes became a symbol of Long Island pride, bridging the gap between newcomers and natives.
In February 2024, LocaLI Bred was acquired by Trellus Same-Day Local Delivery & Marketplace, a Long Island-based startup dedicated to supporting local businesses. LocaLI Bred curated by Trellus continues the mission with even more vigor, leveraging the resources and driver network of Trellus to expand reach and impact.
In January 2025, Trellus will launch a Shop Local Marketplace of all independently owned businesses (including LocaLI Bred) starting in Nassau County and with optional same-day delivery available at checkout. The Trellus Marketplace will make it easier than ever for consumers to shop their favorite local businesses.
