The Italian Corner is a family company, originating from the idea of creating healthy and traditional Italian food, readily available in the comfort of everyone’s home. Husband and wife, Oscar and Nicole, are the founders, chefs, and faces behind it. The company also includes their 8-year-old daughter Catalina, the official quality controller and final decision maker, and Vittoria, their bulldog, who has the primary role of sitting around and being cute. Nicole grew up in Lake Como, Italy, and spent most of her young life in her father’s restaurant “Il Cris”, where making fresh pasta or cooking a sauce from scratch. It was just a daily routine. She met Oscar while working in renowned Italian Restaurant “Farina Focaccia e Cucina Italiana” in San Francisco. Oscar is originally from Peru, a Country with an incredible culinary history born out of the fusion of traditions from the pre-Columbian era, enriched by Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, Japanese and Italian influences. Nicole and Oscar kept learning and expanding their passion for food, by working in well-known Bay Area restaurants, such as La Mar Cebicheria Peruana, Salt House, Perbacco, and Flores. The Italian Corner was born during a trip to Italy, where Oscar was astounded by how simple, yet delicious, Italian food (in Italy) actually is. From that moment on, they both started envisioning a deli, or Rosticceria as it’s called in Italy, offering real food, made from scratch, food that every parent can feel proud to feed their kids. The pandemic, and the consequential loss of their jobs, was the push they needed to finally concretize what until then was just words and hopes. The Italian Corner debuted in small markets around Petaluma, and it’s now a permanent member of many markets in Sonoma, Marin, Contra Costa, Napa, Solano, Santa Clara and Alameda Counties. Their products include fresh pasta, gnocchi, seasonal ravioli, pasta sauces, and many ready-to-bake dishes such as lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, and much more.
