World Peace Chocolate is a locally made (in Petaluma, CA), organic, dairy-free (and thus) vegan dark chocolate.
World Peace Chocolate’s founder, Ray Cooper, is doing several wonderful things in making his delicious dairy-free chocolate:
• Teaching the world that real chocolate is not the same as ‘milk chocolate,‘ that delicious, healthy chocolate contains just a few ingredients including just (4) basic ingredients, all of them organic: cacao butter, cacao powder, maple or sorghum syrup (depending on the WPC flavor), and vanilla extract.
Made by hand. No big factory here. Really.
• Making an ‘untempered’ (unheated) chocolate which is naturally creamy, without using dairy milk to create a creamy consistency. WPC is so fresh and delicate, it requires refrigeration, just like many perishable foods do. (It will soften in the heat like a stick of (vegan or non-vegan) butter will.)
This is in stark contrast to the panoply of tempered chocolate products on market shelves that sit for weeks or months on store shelves — and thus don’t taste nearly as good, or are as fresh and healthy as World Peace Chocolate is.
• Leaving the cow out of the chocolate-candy business. World Peace Chocolates have a remarkably creamy texture that comes from fresh cacao (aka, cocoa) butter, not from a cow (dairy) product, or fillers, or stabilizing ingredients or additives.
• Spreading veganism in the world! Which is the message that humans don’t need to be harming animals all day every day (by the billions) to use (exploit) them for food (like milk in chocolate), nor for clothing or entertainment, or in scientific research labs which teach scientists to treat animals as objects instead of fellow, sentient, emotional non-human individuals who are so much like us humans, but even gentler and kinder.
Currently, World Peace Chocolate is made fresh, often the day before it goes on sale. So it isn’t sold in retail stores.
