The Problem
Managing floral deliveries was once a constant headache for Amodio’s. Using a team of part-time drivers, Amodio’s struggled with scheduling and inexperienced drivers. Cathy Amodio often found herself being called away to help train new drivers and manage their routes. Communicating with drivers during winter months was especially challenging, when delicate arrangements couldn’t be left outside.
Given the unpredictable nature of the orders, Cathy and Mary Ann found it wasn’t worth it to have floral delivery drivers on staff.
The Challenges
In the past, if a driver’s shift ended and she had an opportunity to take on last-minute business, Cathy would make the delivery herself between the hours of 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. It was a lot of coordination, especially when she was busy with customers in the store.
Cathy first heard about Trellus as one of her part-time drivers was preparing to leave. Her sister Mary Ann suggested they try them out, but Cathy was skeptical. “I was a little leery having someone handle [arrangements], who I wasn’t sure could deliver it in a manner that it should be delivered.’
For this same reason, she wasn’t considering Uber or DoorDash to solve these challenges. Their service lacked the professionalism and personal touch she wanted as a customer. She was willing to see if Trellus could step up.

“We tried out Trellus and it worked. It’s amazing, and I can’t live without them now. It’s so easy for us… we’re able to say yes to a number of orders that normally we would probably not take, because we just couldn’t do it,” she explains.
